Software must have been used directly in the R&D project and not for routine work. So for example, general operating system and word processing/spreadsheets may not qualify in full and may need to be apportioned.
But software/SAAS specifically for the R&D project such as programming tools, collaboration or deployment tools are likely to qualify.
